Then God said, Let there be light! And the light came. And God saw see the light, and it pleased 请;讨人喜欢 him, and he gave give it the name of day. And when the day was gone, and the dark came back to stay 停留 for a while, he gave give the dark-ness the name of night. And God did these things on the first day.

The next day God made the clouds, and the sky 天(空) in which they were to move; and he gave give the sky a name; he called it heaven.

Then he drove 驾驶:drive the waters to one place where they were both deep 深的 and wide 宽的, and he called the waters seas, and to the dry 干燥 land 陆地;着陆 he gave give the name of earth 地球. And God made the grass to grow 生长;种植 up out of the earth, and the trees and bushes 灌木 that have fruit 成果 on them. And the grass and the bushes and the trees were to bear 生;熊 seeds 种子, so that when these seeds were put into the ground 地面 more many grass and trees and bushes 灌木 would grow 生长;种植 there. God did these things on the third day.

And God put two great lights in the sky 天(空), the sun 太阳 to shine 发光 by day, and the moon 月亮 to shine by night; and he made the stars, and put each one in its place. And these things he did on the fourth day.

And he made the great whales, and all the fish that live in the sea, and the birds that swim 游泳 on it, as well as those that fly 飞;苍蝇 through the air 天空, and make their nests (鸟)窝 in the deep 深的 woods 木材;树林. And these things God did on the fifth day.

God made the beasts 野兽: those that are wild 野生的 and live in the deep, dark 黑暗的 woods, far from the homes of men; and those that are tame 驯服的 and of use to men, and live where men live—such as the horse, the cow 奶牛, the cattle and the sheep. And he made the things that creep 爬行 on the ground 地面, and flies 飞;苍蝇 and insects that course through the air 天空.

And then God made Man, and told tell him that he should rule 规则 the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all else 其他 that lived on the earth 地球. And he told tell man that the fruit 成果 which grew 生长;种植:grow on the trees and bushes 灌木 should be his food 食物, while the beasts 野兽 were to feed 喂养 on the leaves, and on the grass that was spread 伸开 out on the earth 地球. These things were done on the sixth day.

The next day God did no work at all, but made it a day of rest 休息,其余.

God made man out of the dust 灰尘 of the earth, and breathed 呼吸 in him till the man breathed and moved, and showed show signs 符号 of life. Then God made a garden 菜园;花园 for man to live in, where all sorts 分类 of trees grew 生长;种植:grow that were nice 美好的 to look at, and that bore 厌倦;厌烦;生 fruit 成果 good to eat. And this place was called Eden. And through it flowed a large stream 河流 that kept keep the earth 地球 wet 湿的.

And God took Adam, the man he had made, and put him in the garden 菜园;花园, and told tell him to take care 关心 of it. He told tell him he might eat of the fruit 成果 that grew 生长;种植:grow on all the trees but one. God said he must not eat of that tree, for if he did he would be sure 确信的 to die 死亡. And all the birds and beasts 野兽 came to Adam, that he might give them their names. And the names he gave give them are those by which they are known know to this day.

And God saw see it was not good for man to be alone 单独的; he should have some one to be with him and help him. So he had a deep 深的 sleep fall 落下 on Adam, and while he slept 睡:sleep God took out of his side a bone 骨头, and out of this bone he made a woman. Then he brought bring this woman he had made to Adam, and she was his wife 妻子.

Now there was in this garden 菜园;花园 of Eden a great big snake. And this snake spoke 讲:speak to the woman—as Satan speaks to us—to tempt 引诱 her to sin.

The snake said: Has God told tell you not to eat of all the trees 6 in the garden 菜园;花园?

And the woman said that they might eat of all but one; if they ate 吃:eat of that or touched 触摸 it they would be sure 确信的 to die 死亡. The snake told tell them they should not die, and that God did not wish 希望 them to eat of it for fear 害怕 they would grow 生长;种植 wise 明智的;聪明的, and know more many than he thought think was good for them.

The woman heard hear what the snake said, and when she saw see that the tree was nice 美好的 to look at and the fruit 成果 seemed good to eat, she gave give no thought think to what God had said, but took some of the fruit and ate 吃:eat of it; she gave give some to the man, Adam, and he did eat 7.

In a short 短的 time they heard hear a voice 嗓音, and knew know that God spoke 讲:speak to them. Yet they did not come near him when they heard hear his voice, but ran run and tried to hide 隐藏 from him.

But God spoke once more many, and said to the man, Where are you?

And Adam said, I heard hear your voice, and my fear 害怕 was so great that I hid 隐藏:hide from you.

And God said, Did you eat 8 of the tree I told tell you not to eat 9 of?

And the man said, She whom you did give me to be with me brought bring me some of the fruit 成果, and I did eat 10.

And God said to the man's wife 妻子, What is this that you have done?

And she told tell God what the snake had said, and how she came to eat 11 of the fruit, and God was angry 生气的 with them all. He said the snake should crawl 爬行 on the ground 地面 and eat dust 灰尘 all the days of its life; and he told tell the wife 妻子 she should know what it was to be sick 病;恶心 and sad 悲哀的, and should have much grief 哀思 and care 关心.

And God drove 驾驶:drive the man and his wife out of Eden, and would let them live no more many in that fair 公平;美丽 place. And he sent 派遣;送:send angels 天使 to keep watch 钟表;注视, and a sword of fire that would turn in all ways, so that the two whom God for their sins drove 驾驶:drive out of Eden could not get back to the home they had lost 失去的.

And God told tell Adam that as he had paid pay attention 注意 to what his wife 妻子 said, and did eat of the tree which the Lord had told tell him not to eat of, the ground 地面 should bear 生;熊 no more many fruit 8 for him by itself 本身, as it had done up to this time, and Adam would have to work hard 硬;困难的 all his life to raise 提升;种 food 食物 to eat, and when he died 死亡 he would go back to the dust 灰尘 out of which he was made.

But God told tell Adam and his wife 妻子 that there was a way by which their souls 灵魂 might live on high when their flesh was laid 放置:lay in the ground 地面. He said he would send 派遣;送 one from the sky 天(空) who would give his life for theirs: that is, he would be put to death 死亡 for their sins. Then if they would turn from their sins, and give their hearts to the one who was to save 节省 them, God would not turn his face from them, but when they died 死亡 they would have a home with him, and have no thought think of sin.

So Adam went forth 向前 to till the land 陆地;着陆, and he gave give his wife 6 the name of Eve. And they made coats 上衣 out of the skins of beasts 野兽.

Adam and his wife 7 had two sons 儿子: Cain and Abel. When they grew 生长;种植:grow up to be men, Cain, who was the first-born 生;熊:bear, took care 关心 of a farm 农场; Abel kept keep a flock of sheep.

They both had bad 坏的 hearts, and at times would be led lead into sin, just as Adam and his wife 8 had been. But when Abel did wrong 有毛病的 he was grieved, and sought to make peace 和平 with God. One day he brought bring a lamb 羊肉 from his flock, and killed 杀死… it, and burnt 烧:burn it on a heap of stones 石头. And the smoke went up on high.

This act of Abel's pleased 请;讨人喜欢 God, for it was the sign 符号 that a Lamb was to be sent 派遣;送:send to the world to save 节省 men from their sins.

But Cain kept keep on in his sins, and paid pay his vows 发誓 to God not with a lamb 羊肉, but with fruit 9 or grain 谷物 out of the field. This did not please 请;讨人喜欢 God, and the smoke went not up on high. When Cain saw see this he was in a great anger 生气, and showed show by his looks that he was angry 生气的 with God. Yet God spoke 讲:speak to him in a kind voice 嗓音, and said, Why are you angry? and why are you so sad 悲哀的?

If Cain did right God told tell him he would be pleased 请;讨人喜欢 with his gift 赠品; but if he did not do right, the fault 缺点 was his own.

Then Cain was angry with Abel, for he saw see that God was pleased with Abel's gift and not with his. And one day when both of them were out in the field he rose 上升:rise up and killed 杀死… Abel, and the blood ran run out of Abel's wounds 创伤 and sank 淹没:sink deep 深的 in the ground 地面.

As soon 立刻 as this deed 行为 was done, God spoke 讲:speak to Cain, and said: Where is Abel?

Cain said, I know not. He is not in my care 关心. Then God, who had seen see the crime 罪行, and knew know just how bad 坏的 his heart was, said to Cain: What have you done? The voice 嗓音 of Abel's blood cries 哭,叫喊 to me from out the ground 6.

And God told tell Cain that for his great sin he should move from place to place, as one who was in fear 害怕 of his life, and had no home to stay 停留 in. And if he should plant 植物;种 any‧thing 任何东西 in the field to bear 生;熊 food 食物, it should not grow 生长;种植 well. Weeds would come up and choke it, or it would bear leaves and no fruit 10, so that Cain would not have much to eat.

And Cain said if God drove 驾驶:drive him here and there on the face of the earth 地球, and would not take care 关心 of him, all those who met meet him would want to kill 杀死… him.

But God said the man who hurt 损害 Cain would have a worse 更坏的 fate 命运. God set a mark 斑点;标注 on Cain; what kind of a mark it was we are not told tell, but those who saw see it would know it was Cain, and it would bring to their minds that God had said no man should kill 杀死… him.

Adam lived to be an old, old man, and had a large flock of children, who grew 生长;种植:grow up and were wed, and they went off and made homes, and day by day were peopleborn 生;熊:bear into the world. When Adam died 死亡 he was laid 放置:lay in the ground 7 and went back to dust 灰尘, as God had said he should when he went out of Eden.

One of the men who lived in those days was named Enoch. It is said of him that he walked 走;步行同道 with God. That means that he loved God, and thought think of him, and kept keep near him all the time, and did his best 最好 to please 请;讨人喜欢 him.

And Enoch did not die 死亡, but God took him up to be with him while he still lived, just as if he were to take up one of us.

And Enoch had a son 儿子 whose 谁的 name was Methuselah, who died 死亡 at a great old age 年龄. In those times men lived more many years than they do now, but in all the years since the world was made no man has been known know to live to be as old as Methuselah.

THE GREAT FLOOD AND A GREAT TOWER

In the course of time, when there came to be more many people in the world, they grew 生长;种植:grow fond 喜欢的 of sin. They did not love God, or try to please 请;讨人喜欢 him. And God was angry 生气的 with them, and said he would send 派遣;送 a flood 洪水 that would drown 淹死 the world, and there should not be any dry 干燥 land 陆地;着陆 left 左边;留下;离开 for men, beasts 野兽, or birds to live on.

But though most many of the people at that time were as bad 坏的 as they could be, there was one good man among 之间 them, and his name was Noah.

And God loved Noah and told tell him what he meant mean to do. And God asked Noah build an ark. This was a boat 小船. It was to be made large, with rooms in it, and a great door on its side. And it was to be quite 相当 high, and to have a roof 屋顶 on top.

And God told tell Noah when the ark was done he and his sons 儿子 and their wives should go in it.

And he told tell Noah to take in with him two of each kind of bird and of beast 野兽, and of insect, and of things that crept 爬行:creep, and to take care 关心 of them in the ark so long as the flood 洪水 should be on the earth 7; for all that were not in the ark would be sure 确信的 to be drowned 淹死.

So Noah set out at once to build the ark; and it took him a great while to build it. When not at work on the ark, he would talk 说话 of God, and of his plan to send 派遣;送 a flood to wash sin out of the world, and would urge 催促 the people to give up their sins, and lead good lives. But they paid pay no attention 注意 to his words, and went from bad 坏的 to worse 更坏的 all the time that Noah was at work on the ark.

When it was done God told tell Noah to come into the ark, for he saw see he was a good man who had done his best 最好 to serve 服务;(为…)工作 him, and to bring the birds and beasts 6 with him. For in a few days he would send 派遣;送 the rain on the earth 8, and all that was left 左边;留下;离开 on it would be drowned 淹死.

So Noah did as God told tell him. And when he and his wife 9, and his three sons 儿子 and their wives, and the birds 6 and the beasts 7, both small and great, had passed 走过 through the great door of the ark, God shut 关闭 them in.

At the end of a week the rain set in, and did not stop 停止 for more many than a month. The rain seemed to pour 淋;倒 out of the sky 天(空), and all the springs 春季, the large and small streams 河流, and the great seas, rose 上升:rise up and swept 打扫:sweep through the length 长度 and breadth 宽度 of the land 陆地;着陆. They came to where the ark was, and went round 圆形的;围绕 and round it, and rose 上升:rise so high that the ark was borne 生;熊:bear from its place and set afloat on the great wide 宽的 sea.

Then those who had paid pay no attention 注意 to Noah, but had kept keep on in their sins, were in a sad 悲哀的 plight 困境. The flood 洪水 had come, and they knew know now that all that he had told tell them was true 真正的. How glad 高兴的 they would have been to go with him in the ark. But it was too late. They ran run in wild 野生的 haste 匆忙 to the tops of the hills 小山 in hopes 希望 to find there a safe 安全的 place. But still the floods 洪水 rose 上升:rise and rose till there was no place for them to go, and all those not in the ark were drowned 淹死, and there was not a bit 一点 of dry 干燥 land 陆地;着陆 in the whole 全部的 wide 宽的 world.

But God took care 6 of Noah, and those who were with him, and kept keep them safe 安全的 till the floods 洪水 went down. At the end of five months the sea had gone down so much that the ark stood stand high and dry 干燥 on a mount 增加 known know as Ararat. It stood stand there for at least 最小的 two months, and at the end of that time the sea had gone down so that tops of high hills 小山 could be seen see here and there.

And Noah sent 派遣;送:send forth 向前 a raven, and the bird flew 飞;苍蝇:fly this way and that, but came not back to the ark.

Then Noah sent forth a dove 鸽子, that he might find out if the ground 8 was yet dry 干燥. And the dove 鸽子 flew here and there in search 搜寻 of green 绿色的 things, but found find not a tree in sight 视力, and naught but cold 寒冷的 hard 硬;困难的 rock 岩石, and so she flew 飞;苍蝇:fly back to the ark and Noah put out his hand and took her in.

At the end of a week Noah sent 派遣;送:send out the dove 鸽子 once more many, and at the close of the day she came back with a leaf 叶子 in her mouth.

As soon 立刻 as Noah saw see the leaf he knew know that the waves 波浪 had gone down or the dove 鸽子 could not have found find it. And he knew know that God had sent 派遣;送:send the dove 鸽子 back to him that he might know the ground 9 would soon be dry 干燥.

In a few days he sent 6 the dove 鸽子 out for the third time, but she did not come back; and Noah was sure 确信的 then that the ground was dry, and that God meant mean that for a sign 符号 that he should leave the ark in which he had been shut 关闭 up so long.

And God spoke 讲:speak to Noah and told tell him to come out of the ark, and to bring out all that had been in there with him. And Noah did so, and he built build up a heap of stones 石头 as Abel had done, on which he laid 放置:lay beasts 8 and birds 7, and burnt 烧:burn them, which was the way in which man gave give thanks 谢谢 to God in those days.

And Noah's heart was full 满的 of praise 赞扬 to God, who had kept keep him, and those who were near and dear 亲爱的 to him, safe 安全的 from the flood 洪水, while all the rest 休息,其余 of the world was drowned 淹死.

And God told tell Noah and his sons 儿子 that they should rule 规则 on the earth 9, and might kill 杀死… the beasts 9 and use the flesh for food 食物. Up to this time those who lived on the earth 10 had lived on the fruits 成果 of trees 7 and such things as grew 6 out of the ground, and did not know the taste 品尝 of meat.

And God told tell Noah that he would send 派遣;送 no more many floods 洪水 to drown 淹死 the world as this one had done. And he gave give Noah a sign 符号 that he would keep his word, so that when Noah saw see it he would have no fear 害怕 of a flood 洪水. And this sign was the rain‧bow 彩虹, which God set up in the sky 天(空) as a bow of hope 希望 to Noah and to all the world.

Noah lived for years and years after the flood, and died 死亡 at a ripe 成熟的 old age 年龄.

The tribes 部落 of Noah grew 7 so fast 快的 that the world was quite 相当 well filled 装满 once more many.

And you would think they would have been glad 高兴的 to serve 服务;(为…)工作 God, and to do right in his sight 视力. But their hearts were full 满的 of sin, and they went on as those had done who were drowned 淹死 in the flood 洪水.

At this time all those who lived on the earth 11 spoke 6 but one tongue 舌头; that is, they used the same kind of speech 演说.

Now these tribes 部落 did not stay 停留 in one spot 地点 all the time, but would pack 一群 up their tents 帐篷 and move from place to place as they chose 挑选:choose.

And as they went to the east they came to a plain 平原;明显 in the land 陆地;着陆 of Shinar. And they said, Let us make brick and build a high tower that shall 将要 reach 到达 up to the sky 天(空). And let us make a name, so that when we go from this place it will be known know what great men were here, and what great deeds 行为 they could do.

And they set to work to build it. God, who read their hearts, knew know that sin was at work there, and that the tower they meant mean to build was not to serve 服务;(为…)工作 him in, or to add 增加 to his praise 赞扬. So he was not pleased 请;讨人喜欢 with their work, and chose 挑选:choose a strange 奇怪;陌生 way to stop 停止 them. He made them all at once speak in strange tongues 舌头. This one could not tell what that one said, and they made such a noise 噪音 that it grew 8 to be just a babel of sound 声音. And that is why it was called the tower of Babel.

ABRAHAM: THE MAN OF FAITH.

There lived in the land 6 of Ur a man whose 谁的 name was Abraham. And in that land 7 the men did not serve 服务;(为…)工作 the true 真正的 God, but had set up false 虚伪的 gods to whom they paid pay their vows 发誓.

And God told tell Abraham to leave his home and go to a land 8 which he would show him. Abraham did not know where the land 9 was, but he had great faith 信用, and knew know that God would take care 7 of him and bring him to the land he had told tell him of.

So Abraham took Sarah, his wife, and his brother 兄弟's son 儿子, whose 谁的 name was Lot 大量;份额, and they set out for the land which God had said he would show him.

Abraham was a rich 富有的 man, and so was Lot, and they had a great wealth 财产 of flocks, and of herds 放牧, and of tents 帐篷. And they each had a large force of herdsmen. And these herdsmen were at strife 争吵.

And Abraham told tell Lot it was best 最好 that they should part; and he said to him, Choose 挑选 where you shall 将要 go. If you will take the left 左边;留下;离开 hand I will go to the right, and if you will go to the right hand then I will go to the left.

So Lot 大量;份额 looked round 圆形的;围绕 and saw see that the plain 平原;明显 of Jordan was rich 富有的 in grass, and would be a fine 好的 place for him and his herds 放牧 to dwell in; so he made his choice 选择 at once, and went to live there.

Two large towns 城镇 were on this plain 平原;明显, Sodom and Gomorrah. The men in Sodom were full 满的 of sin, yet Lot 大量;份额, though a good man, went to live there that he might have a chance 机会 to add 增加 to his wealth 财产.

As soon 立刻 as Lot had gone, the Lord told tell Abraham that he would give to him and his heirs 继承者 all that land as far as he could see it. And the tribe 部落 of Abraham would be so great that no one could count 数;总数 them.

Now Sarah Abraham's wife, had a hand‧maid 手‧女佣—that is, a maidofallwork— whose 谁的 name was Hagar; and she came from Egypt. Hagar did Sarah a great wrong 有毛病的, and Sarah drove 驾驶:drive her from the house, and she fled to the woods 木材;树林.

An angel 天使 of the Lord found find Hagar there by a spring 春季 of water, and said to her, From where did you come? and where will you go? And she said she had fled from Sarah, whose 谁的 maid 女佣 she was.

And the angel 天使 said she must go back to Sarah and do as she wished 希望 her to do. And he told tell Hagar she would have a son 儿子 whose name would be Ishmael, and that he would live out of doors and be at strife 争吵 with all men. So Hagar went back to Sarah, and in due 由于 time God gave give her a son, who was called Ishmael.

When Abraham was an old man, God told tell him that he and Sarah should have a son, who should be called Isaac.

One day at the hour 小时 of noon 正午, when Abraham sat 坐:sit by the door of his tent 帐篷, he looked up and saw see three men quite 相当 near him. Then he ran run out to meet them, and bowed his face to the ground. And Abraham asked them sit down and rest 休息,其余, and let some water be brought bring that they might wash their feet.

No one in those days wore 穿着:wear such shoes as are worn 穿着:wear now. Some went bare‧foot 光秃秃的‧脚;英尺, and some wore just a sole 唯一 tied 打结;系上;关系 to the foot 脚;英尺 with strings 绳子, which did not keep off the dust 灰尘 and dirt 泥土 as our shoes do.

So when one came in from a long walk 走;步行同道 the first thing he did was to bathe 给…洗澡 his feet, as that gave give rest 休息,其余 and ease 轻松, and when guests 客人 came the bowl was brought bring for their use.

And Abraham brought bring them food 食物 to eat, and stood stand by to wait 等候 on them; and when they had had their fill 装满, went with them to show them the way.

In those days the Lord came down on the earth and spoke 7 with men, and it is thought think that one of these three was the Lord, and the two with him were angels 天使.

And the Lord told tell Abraham that he meant mean to burn Sodom and Gomorrah for the sins of those who lived there. This made Abraham sad 悲哀的, and he said there might be a few good men there, and he begged 乞讨 the Lord to spare 节省;多余的;备用件 the towns 城镇 for their sakes 缘故.

The Lord said he would do so if ten good men could be found find there.

And the Lord 8 left 左边;留下;离开 Abraham and he went back to his tent 帐篷. At the close of the day, Lot 大量;份额 sat 坐:sit in the gate of Sodom and two angels 天使 came there. And as soon 立刻 as Lot 7 saw see them he rose 上升:rise up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground.

Then these angels 天使 told tell Lot 8 to take out of Sodom all those who were dear 亲爱的 to him, and flee 逃跑 in great haste 匆忙, as the Lord 9 meant mean to set the place on fire.

They were told tell not to look back, but while on their way Lot 9's wife turned her head, which was a sign 符号 that her heart was in Sodom, and she died 死亡 where she stood stand, and turned to salt.

But Lot 10 and his two girls reached 到达 Zoar at dawn 黎明 of the next day. Then the Lord 10 rained fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, and they were burnt 烧:burn up in fierce 凶猛的 flame 火焰, with all that lived there, and all that grew 9 out of the ground.

In due 由于 time God gave give Abraham the son 儿子 he had said he should have.

And the child grew, and as soon 立刻 as it could eat, Abraham made a great feast 盛会. And at this feast Sarah saw see that Hagar's son, Ishmael, made fun 乐趣 of her boy, and she begged 乞讨 Abraham to cast him out. Abraham did not wish 希望 to do this, but God spoke 8 to him and told tell him to do as Sarah had said, for Isaac was to be the true 真正的 heir 继承者. So the next day Abraham gave give food 食物 and drink 喝(酒) to Hagar and sent 7 her and her child out of his house.

And Hagar took her boy and went to the waste 浪费 lands 陆地;着陆 of Beersheba.

And when there was nothing for the child to drink, he grew weak 柔弱的, and was like to die 死亡. And Hagar laid 放置:lay him under a bush 灌木 and went off and sat 坐:sit down and hid 隐藏:hide her face, and wept weep, for she loved her boy very much and did not want to see him die 死亡.

And a voice 嗓音 spoke 9 to Hagar out of the sky 天(空), and said, What ails AIL you, Hagar? Fear 害怕 not, for God has heard hear the voice 6 of the lad 小伙子 where he is. Rise 上升, lift 举起 up the lad 小伙子 and hold him in thine arms 手臂.

And the voice 7 told tell her that her son 7 should be the head of a great tribe 部落. And as she raised 提升;种 her eyes she saw see a well of water, and she ran run to it and gave give her son 8 a drink 喝(酒) and he was soon 立刻 strong 强的 and well once more many.

And God was kind to Ishmael, and he grew, and made his home in the woods 木材;树林, and came to have great skill 技能 with the bow.

Now it was God's wish 希望 to try the faith 信用 of Abraham to him.

And he told tell him to take his son 9, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and lay 放置 him on the altar he was to build on one of the mounts 增加 there. It was not a hard 硬;困难的 task 任务 to kill 杀死… a lamb 羊肉, and to burn it so that the smoke of it should rise 上升 up to God, like praise 赞扬 from the hearts of men. But how could Abraham take his own dear 亲爱的 son 10, Isaac, and lay 放置 him on the wood 木材;树林, and let him be burnt 烧:burn up like a lamb 羊肉?

Yet God told tell him to do it, and Abraham knew know that it was safe 安全的 for him to do as God said.

So he rose 6 the next day and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son 11, and cut the wood the right length 长度, and set out for the mount 增加 of which God had told tell him.

And as they drew 绘画:draw near the place he took the wood from the ass and laid 放置:lay it on Isaac's back, and took the fire in his hand and a knife, and the two went up the mount 增加.

Now Isaac did not know what the Lord 11 had told tell Abraham to do, nor 也不 why his father 父亲 took him up to the mount. And he said, Here is the fire and the wood 木材;树林, but where is the lamb 羊肉?

And Abraham said, My son, God will give us the lamb 羊肉 we need.

And when they came to the place, Abraham piled up the stones 石头 and put the wood on them, and bound 必定;跳 Isaac and laid 放置:lay him on the wood.

Then he drew 绘画:draw forth 向前 the knife to kill 杀死… his son. And just then a voice 8 from the sky 8 cried 哭,叫喊 out, Abraham! Abraham! And Abraham said, Here am I.

And the Lord 12 told tell him to do no harm 损害 to Isaac, for now he knew know that Abraham loved him, since he would not spare 节省;多余的;备用件 his own dear 亲爱的 son if it was God's wish 希望 that he should give him up.
